July 7th, 2000: George V. Johnson, Jr. date:

I've added a link below to Hip Bop Vocalese, a book of the vocalese lyrics of Dr. Nelson E. Harrison. I haven't read it, but it is an interesting web site.

On a personal note, I've got tickets to see Kurt Elling in Ann Arbor tonight. I'll try to report on it tomorrow. (And on the outtakes album, if they have them for sale.)

June 2nd, 2000: His web board verifies the release of a second Kurt Elling Live in Chicago album, Live in Chicago: Outtakes. Apparently it is only available in Australia right now, though I see that Amazon.com will import it for you. (I won't be buying it until I survive the taxes due this month.) Quoth Kurt:

We have a "second set" to the live record avail. in Australia only and I do that lyric over the second track on Trane's magnificent "A Love Supreme". Other cuts include "Moon and Sand", "Dolores" with an extended spoken word event, "Renaissance of the Resistance" by my friend Kahil, and a 'bonus track'; a very hip and updated arr. of "Senior Blues" created for me by Matthew Backer, a hip young NYC producer.

May 31st, 2000: I've now got several copies of the official CD pressing of George V. Johnson, Jr.'s debut album, Next in Line!. Sounds great!

May 21st, 2000: I've had the +4db CD for several weeks now, and I love it. More below in the new +4db section.

Kurt Elling is touring like a maniac. There are way too many dates to list here, but check out the list on his web page. Oh! He finally posted some lyrics from recent material, as well.
