Daniel Keys Moran's works cry out to be discussed, so I formed a mailing list soon after the publication of The Last Dancer. Because it provided a convenient and distinctive handle, it is the "Continuing Time" mailing list, but it's charter is for the discussion of all DKM's works.

Daniel Keys Moran was a member of the list. This was a wonderful thing. He graciously allowed us to set up a large on-line library of his works, both published and unpublished. We get the inside scoop on upcoming books, and we have gotten intriguing hints at the nature and inhabitants of the Continuing Time.

Two people administer this list, Sol Foster (colomon [the at sign] ralf [dot aka period] org) and Charles Clark (cmc [the at sign] stegosaur [dot aka period] us). Sol is the big DKM fan, and keeps archives and this message and such. Charlie is the good friend who hopefully keeps the list software running.

Three options are available for subscribing to the list. The default mode sends every message to the list to you individually. In digest mode, all the messages are gathered together and sent out daily. For those of you who are interested only in official announcements and messages from DKM himself, you can subscribe to the ct-announce list.

Subscribing

You can join the list and manage your subscription two ways; with a web browser or by email. We recommend using the web interface.

Using the web

The easiest method is with a web browser. Go to the main list's information page (or the ct-announce list page), and subscribe to the list. You will receive an address verification email to which you must reply and that's it. If you are already a subscriber go to the same listinfo page to edit your options or see the list archives in a hypermail-style format. (For the ct-announce list, try, the ct-announce listinfo page or the ct-announce archives.)

Some of the options you may set if you are a subscriber are to disable mail delivery if you want to stop receiving the list temporarily, to set digest mode on or off (off by default), choose to NOT receive your own posts to the list (off by default), or to choose to conceal your address from the subscriber list which is available to other subscribers (off/not concealed by default).

Using email

To manage your subscription by email, send mail to continuing-time-request [the at sign] ralf [dot aka period] org or ct-announce-request [the at sign] ralf [dot aka period] org

This mail is processed by a list manager known as Mailman. Send mail to one of the above address with majordomo style commands in the body of the message. (All that's needed is the single word command itself.) Some of the commands are:

subscribe

unsubscribe <password>

who
Find out who is on the list.
options
Show the current values of your list options
set <option> <on|off> <password>

Forgotten Your Password?

If you have forgotten your password (or never got it in the first place) you can have Mailman send your password to you. Go to the list's information page (or the ct-announce information page). At the bottom of the page, next to the Edit Options button, enter the e-mail address Mailman sends your mail to and press the button. You will then be presented with a screen of options. Select Email My Password To Me.
